More Fire For Burning People

There is no way to cut this
Inspiration out of myself.
There is no way to let it fall adrift
Listing heavily on a rough sea.

But there is always the bursting to consider.

People always talk about Fight or Flight
But they've forgotten the third option: the gift.
Eruption into flame the consumation of everything.

I used to be in a band from Richmond, VA called "More Fire for Burning People. "www.morefireforburningpeople.com". Were you at all inspired by the name? Or is this a total coincidence? Nice words.

Hey Brian, please feel free to steal this poem and post it! By the way did you graduate from the VCU sculpture dept?

Oop! I was thinking of Curtis.

Hell, I think I remember you. I don't know why but it looked like the writer was based in Florida or something. Yes, Curtis was the Sculpture major. I'll forward this to him. He'll get a kick out of it.

Yeah I am the Tennessee poet and have since moved back to Richmond, my "associate" Jay Snodgrass is the Florida poet.
